The Ahieiev family arrived in the United States in August 2023, sponsored by a small group of neighbors under the Uniting For Ukraine Act. They came with only a few suitcases, leaving behind their home in Odessa, a region still facing daily missile and drone attacks. Despite having almost no resources, the family quickly adapted, working hard and showing incredible resilience. Within months, they became entirely self-reliant and even started a small business, embodying the American dream in action.
There are five members of the Ahieiev family: the parents, two teenage boys, and a 7-year-old girl named Viktoriia. All of them applied for ongoing legal status to continue living and working in the U.S. While three family members were approved, Viktoriia and her father were unexpectedly scheduled for deportation. Viktoriia’s hearing is set for February 12, and the only legal avenue to prevent her detention and deportation is to apply for asylum. The process is urgent and prohibitively expensive, and the family has exhausted all other options, including reaching out to congressional representatives and consulting with multiple immigration lawyers.
This fundraiser will help the Ahieiev family cover the immediate costs of Viktoriia’s asylum application and legal fees. Your support can help keep this resilient family together and give them a chance to continue building their lives in safety. Please join us in supporting the Ahieievs during this critical time.
