Hi, my name is Viktoria, and I’m a proud mom to an incredible 11-year-old son. I’m also in my third year as a nurse. After my divorce, I was finally finding my footing again when, just before Halloween, I was diagnosed with stage III invasive ductal carcinoma.
Like many nurses, I believed I could handle anything on my own. I continued working as long as I could, but cancer is not only physically and emotionally draining—it is financially overwhelming. After just over a month on medical leave, the reality of mounting medical bills has become impossible to ignore.
Each time I manage to negotiate or pay down existing bills, new ones take their place. At my most recent appointment, I was presented with an $1,800 bill to begin the second phase of my treatment, which includes 13 cycles. This is only one part of the ongoing costs I am facing as I continue care and focus on healing.
Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do this alone. Any contribution—no matter the amount—will help cover treatment costs and allow me to focus on getting healthy and being present for my son. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or sending words of encouragement would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you’re able to offer. From the bottom of my heart, I am truly grateful.
