Hello everyone!
My name is Viktor. I am a 26 year old full time college student working on my B.S. in Marine Biology and Sustainable Aquaculture. As a side passion and a job, I’m also a circus performer! I love taking inspiration from nature and expressing it through my art—mixing both of my passions in my creations and performances.
I live with Hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome and Gastroparesis, which have caused many hard to manage symptoms over the years, including long lasting tendon inflammation, joint pain, and even internal bleeding. These conditions have made it difficult to maintain traditional employment. On top of that, I live in a very rural town with no public transportation and very few accessible job opportunities. Even so, I haven’t let these obstacles stop me I’ve learned to take things into my own hands by creating handmade art that I sell online and in person. I have a lot of fun creating art for people!
I lost my home of five years after being hospitalized late last year, and I’ve been struggling to find stable housing for myself and my ESA dog, Vision. My resources are extremely limited, and I was told I have to move off my father’s property—where I’ve been temporarily staying—by January 15th. I was not aware of this deadline until recently, leaving me only two months to secure housing with almost no support or recourses, which has been exceptionally difficult.
Thankfully, I have wonderful friends who have helped however they can. We toured an apartment that seems perfect for me and my dog. it’s in a small community close to public transportation, right in the heart of Durham near more work opportunities. It’s also close to a nature trail and has a dog park!
Living on my own would allow me to regain my independence, focus on my education and health, and move into a much safer and more stable environment.
Here’s where you can help:
The move in fee is roughly $2,000, but the monthly rent afterward will be much more affordable—and I would have one month free. I’m doing everything I can to earn what I can through small jobs and by selling many of my belongings, but I’m struggling to gather the full move in cost in time.
I appreciate any and all support—whether that’s sharing my GoFundMe, donating any amount, or even purchasing something from my Amazon wishlist to help make the move and transition into my first apartment go smoothly.
Thank you so much for reading this far. And happy holidays!
