Help Vikki to Victory!

Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit! My name is Laura, and I’m fundraising for my mom Vikki.
If you know Vikki, you know the type of person she is— loyal, loving, happy-go-lucky, and an overall great time. She’s everyone’s cheerleader and a devoted friend. Her passions include family, friends, and riding her motorcycle!
On September 29th, 2022, she received some unexpected and shocking news— she has breast cancer. There was nothing that could have prepared her for this, mentally or financially. She works her a** off year round as a truck driver for Penndot so she can afford to maintain her life, as she lives on her own. After a few weeks, she started to come to terms with the expenses she had to pay for with post-op treatment, and she was scheduled for a lumpectomy on November 16th. Just days before, the unthinkable happened…
Vikki was working on November 10th with her Penndot crew on Rt 30 bypass filling pot holes when a driver of a Penske truck ignored their safety barriers, and slammed into their crew. The truck hit two people in a small dump truck that then hit the four other workers on the road; one being Vikki. They were all rushed to various hospitals in the area for treatment.
The hospital experience was an absolute nightmare.. she never even saw a hospital room, spending 8 hours in a wheel chair in the waiting room. After 5 hours, they FINALLY evaluated her and ordered a CT scan. By the grace of God, she had no broken bones. So the hospital sent her home, without even cleaning her road rash, while she was still in agony.
Because it was the weekend, no one from her job was answering her calls to get worker’s compensation information. Without this information, no doctors would see her to help. She spent the weekend in pain, with little to no sleep.
The surgeon still wanted to complete the surgery to remove the cancer so there was no rescheduling. We made the trip, she got through with it and finally received some medication for her pain. We were hoping this was the end of the horrible week and she would be on the road to recovery. However, on November 21st, she received news that the cancer was larger than they expected and she would need to get a mastectomy.
While scary, we knew the cancer had not spread to the lymph nodes, and she was prepared to lose her breast. However, she feared more about how she would be able to financially care for herself if she had to continue to be out of work. And she’s worried if she loses her PTO, she will not be able to attend my wedding in April.
While I can, and will contribute to her finances, I’m personally not in a spot to take them all entirely. Her company’s FMLA is frankly suspicious, and not providing any pay while she is out. So I’m reaching out for help.
I made a random goal in hopes to cover her expenses and medical fees for a few months. If it is too much, I’ll donate the rest to a cancer research society. Every penny counts towards her peace of mind!
Let’s help get Vikki on her road to victory against breast cancer!
