Hello. My name is Vikki. My husband & I are retired & living on social security in rural SW Oregon. We have a small home on a few acres that have slowly become an accidental refuge for abandoned cats and a few dogs. We have Bobcats & Cougars nearby so a safe space is a must have. More than 40 animals, mostly cats, have been dumped or found their way to us after neighbors moved or passed away over the past 5 years. They show up hungry, sometimes injured, and always frightened. We have humanely trapped and fixed most of them but new ones are still showing up. We have been tirelessly proactive in getting them fixed quickly so only 2 litters have ever been born here. Moms were fixed afterwards & the kittens found good homes. I've been able to find homes for some of the adult cats but we still have about 25. It's a serious problem in this part of rural Oregon with overburdened resources.

How it started: after the tragic loss of our son, my husband and I moved here seeking peace and healing. Part of that journey evolved into caring for these animals — something I’ve always cared about, but have never seen a need like this.

We provide food & fresh water 2x a day, warm shelters and medical care. But with rising prices, vet bills and new cats still arriving, we can’t keep up on our own anymore. I hate to ask, but I owe it to these sweet lil beings.

– Materials so I can build for warm, insulated shelters for the coming cold / rainy months.
