Our life just got turned upside down a week ago when we found out my mother-in-law, Vijay Lakshmi has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. One of the most aggressive types of  blood cancer, it's deadly if not treated immediately. She's currently here only on a visitor visa from India, however she has been living with us here in Canada since 2017. Of course she has basic insurance to cover any medical expenses, but we just found out her cancer treatment, and chemotherapy is not covered! Even though she's been living in Canada for over 3 years now and her current permanent residency application has been "in progress" for almost 2 years, we're currently in a position where we'll be forced to pay out of pocket. The treatments for Leukemia are going to cost a fortune here when you are not a permanent resident of Canada!! My mom is very sick, and cannot travel back to India either as she's in highly immunocompromised state! Immediate Chemotherapy and hospital care is her best chance to survive. She is a very loving mother, a very kind soul and has always supported her family, children and community with every possible means she could. Please help us to be able to provide her the care and treatment she needs to fight blood cancer.
