This fundraiser is for my Uncle Erich, a Vietnam Veteran. He suffered from a stroke several months ago where he lost all use of the right side of his body. He went to a rehab in Braintree (Encompass) and they were wonderful in helping him gain his speech back. He was then sent to another rehab in Weymouth where he was told that the physical setbacks he has will never get better, which is quite disheartening, but we are hopeful. He is finally home but…

Uncle Erich has extremely limited use of his right side (little to no use) and requires in-home health care. As of now, his insurance (both private and Mass Health) has yet to pay for any of his health care supplies, in-home care, etc.

A neighbor of his who is an RN has been caring for him WITHOUT PAY in between his siblings coming and going, saying that she can wait for insurance to kick in, but the insurance may or may not cover any back pay, and if they do, it only goes back so far. We are in desperate need of funds to pay her and to buy the supplies he needs as he is wheelchair-bound and only has use of his left arm and hand.

Again, he is a Vietnam Veteran (!!), is an absolute sweetheart, has stayed positive through all of this, and makes everyone smile in his presence (he actually demands it in funny ways). He is an absolute ray of sunshine and needs our help.
