Our dad is a proud former Marine and Vietnam veteran who has always been there for his family and community. He survived Vietnam, flying over 500 combat missions, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal twice. But now he's having trouble surviving the stairs at home. Now in his 80s, he’s still fiercely independent, but age has made things a bit more challenging. His bedroom is on the second floor, and recently, he’s had a couple of falls down the stairs.
My sister Kelly and I have grown increasingly concerned for his safety, especially since he’s become a little unsteady on his feet.
We’ve talked with him about installing a chair lift and setting him up with Life Alert to help him get up and down the stairs safely and ensure he can get help quickly in case of a fall. He likes the idea, but being on a fixed budget, it’s just not something he can afford on his own. We want to do everything we can to help him stay in the home he loves, avoid further injuries, and give our family peace of mind knowing he’s safe.
Any support you can give will mean the world to our dad and our family. Thank you for helping us keep him safe and comfortable in his own home. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated.
