Hi this is Genevieve , Victoria's daughter. These past 2 years have been very hard for my family as I'm sure it is for a lot of people. Anyone who knows me or my family asking for help is something that's very hard to do. But sometimes that's just what has to be done. My mother Victoria medically has had issues that have been managed okay over the years. In the past 2 years, because of being without insurence for periods, loosing jobs, changes in diabeties managment, costs of medication, cars dying, my father working in San Diego as we live in Ontario and now having to go on disability for the 2nd time. It has drained my parents emotionally anf financially. My mother had just gone back to work again before she had gotten her brain tumor diagnosis and had finally started to feel like she could get the fincances in order to move closer to my dads work. Now with her treatments, physical therapy, inability to drive because of damage to her eye, our family isn't comfortable with them moving somewhere where she would be much more isolated. It would make her doctors vists harder and she would prefer to not have to change doctors if we can avoid it.
There is so much to say and i'll try and keep it short but I want to explain her most recent medical issues, the brain tumor. On Oct. 17th of last year my brother Alex rushed my mother to the hospital after a virtual vist with our doctor. During the day when she was home alone her right eye had started to swell and not track with her left eye. An MRI showed that she had a brain tumor covering her optic nerve and her pituitary gland. She then visted a surgeon in Loma Linda who wasn't comfortable taking her case as this tumor, as we later found out was old, covering very delicate areas and had started to wear away at bone. He told her to vist this surgeon in Fountain Valley. To even get to that point took weeks and during that time Victoria could not work, she was extremly sensitive to light which is why even now she is still not able to drive. When she was able to finally have surgery on Feb. 4th 2026 she was in the hospital for 2 weeks and was mostly bed bound. Which she nows needs physical therapy just for that. She had 2 surgeres to remove the tumor one up the nose and one where they went in through the head. She will have a pretty badass scar though. Her team was amazing and so was her surgeon. Both went well but not perfect, he wasnt able to remove all of it to be on the safe side. they will monitor it and see if they will need to have another surgery, if it growes more. We believe it was a very slow growing one and that she must of had it for a long time so we are hopefull it wont come to that. As far as the surgeon believes its not cancer but the biopsy has not come back yet to confirm that.
My parents landlord is a whole other story thats too long. The short is that he is a slum lord and has let the home gone to disaray. The roof has needed repair/not been up to code for 11 years now but has never wanted to put money in to fix it. The city of Ontario checks on rental properies to make sure they are safe and they first came 3 or 4 years ago. the biggest problem was the roof and told our landlord that he has to fix it or the next time they come we won't be able to live there. My parents have only delt with it for so long because he has at least kept the rent cheap. He's done a lot of terrible stuff which they don't have in writing and are looking into legal options and would love advice if anyone has experience or knowledge around this. But at the current moment my parents and my brother Alex have 60 days to move out.
I know this an extremely hard time to ask of people right now as finacally its hard for everyone. But I would appreate any and all help they can get even if its just spreading the word on your own socials or in your cirlcles. I'll link my instagram if you would direct links to donate and dont want a fee to be taken by this site. I'm not sure if I can add that here and would prefer to not be flagged. You can also find my mom on facebook and I know she will post more there as well.
Any and all money donated will be directly going to Victoria and my father Alan. It will help cover moving expenses, co-pays, medication, and help keep them a float as Victoria had to go back on disabillity
Thank you so much for taking the time to help and read all of this. My mother has truly been a warrior though all of this and appreciated when I asked for prayers for her, so i'll ask again to please keep my family in your well wishes through all of this.
