Help Victoria Recover from Neglect and Starvation

Donation protected
Meet Victoria, a doberman that has been a victim of neglect and starvation. Fortunately for her, a neighbor recognized she was close to death, and called a police detective in Flint, MI to investigate her well-being.

Victoria was found locked in a cage, inside an apartment. She was standing in all her own waste, covered in it. The police called animal control, and she was brought to Genesee County Animal Services. Ms. Alice liberated this poor girl, and Victoria demonstrated her gratitude towards Alice when I went to pick her up for Great Babies Rescue. Many jumps and kisses ensued. Side note, her previous owner was arrested, and taken to jail.

I received a heads up that Genesee County AC had a special delivery for me. I picked her up on the afternoon of Friday, July 25th, to get her into safety before the weekend started. She really needed some TLC. I appreciate the trust the shelter bestowed on me, entrusting me with her care.

In her first 48 hours, she received a much needed bath. She stunk almost as bad as a skunk. I wasn't excited that I needed to accomplish this immediately, before gaining her trust, but trust me, there was no other choice. LOL.

Since then, she partakes in her favorite behavior at least once every 4 hrs, eating and snacking. She is SO hungry.

She has a raised bed to lie on, with a cushy blanket, and 2 fans blowing on her. She has soft rock playing softly on the background, an outfitted crate, should she wish to sleep there, and most importantly, a clean floor, sanitized many times daily, by yours truly, as she is not potty trained. No surprise there! She also has unlimited access to water.

She gets short walks, in the shaded woods, several times a day. She has started snuggling up to me with her beautiful bony body. Another few days without food, and she would have died. I can't imagine how anyone could treat such a gentle soul this way. She yearns for love .

She was way too emaciated to do much of anything but the basics. She will need her distemper booster, blood work, coagulation test, 2nd dewormer, spay and microchip later.

In the meantime, she needs a lot of groceries. Also, some chew toys, stuffies, and enrichment tools to help her in her slow recovery. Treats, and more treats!

She could use a sun screen shirt with SPF protection, and some doggles too. Doggie safe sunscreen would also be appreciated.

Victoria is under the care of Great Babies Rescue, a 501c3 nonprofit that specializes in last chance and special needs rescue. Please visit greatbabiesrescues.org for more information .
