Hello. My name is Yvette Hendree Perry. I am creating this GoFundMe page for two very important reasons. The first is to request financial support for my daughter and son-in-law during this incredibly difficult time in their lives. The second is to bring awareness to the life-threatening medical occurrence that has caused this situation.

Victoria and Jeremiah Crotwell just had a beautiful baby girl a little over a week ago. During the latter stages of her pregnancy and following it, my daughter started to have a tremendous amount of fluid retention. This caused severe swelling in her body, especially her legs and feet. It also caused a cough and shortness of breath. Her inability to breathe became so severe that we ultimately had to rush her back to the hospital where they determined that she had developed Postpartum Cardiomyopathy (Peripartum Cardiomyopathy). Postpartum Cardiomyopathy is a rare, life-threatening form of heart failure occurring in the last month of pregnancy or up to 5 months postpartum. The symptoms of this rare, life-threatening condition are fatigue, severe shortness of breath, leg swelling, and palpitations. Victoria experienced all but one of these symptoms after giving birth the following week. She was readmitted to the hospital in ICU where they worked feverishly to get her stable. Unfortunately, to do so, they had to sedate and intubate her. She simply was not able to catch her breath and her heart was not beating strongly enough. The job then was to get the fluid off her lungs and from around her heart so that she could start breathing on her own and for her heart to get stronger.

Although it "seemed like touch and go" the last few days, through God's grace and all of the exceptional work of the medical professionals at Methodist Germantown, Tennessee, Victoria is trending very positively in the right direction. I say "seemed like touch and go" because our God already knew that He was going to bring her through. She has released most of the fluid crowding her lungs and heart. The medications they have given her have also worked to strengthen her heart. She is also "breathing over the vent" so the doctors are now in the process of taking her off it. We see and are claiming through Christ a full and speedy recovery.

This situation has caused Jeremiah to miss work, as he has refused to leave his sweetheart's bedside in this life-or-death situation, and we need your financial assistance to help my children get back on track. Obviously, they have our family support (including financially), but between the time and money they have already missed and will continue to miss once she is finally discharged and spends time rehabbing, they could use some additional assistance. Our goal for this family is $10,000. This money will allow them to catch up and keep up with their mounting bills.

Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated and although we set a goal of $10,000, we would gladly welcome all that is on your heart to offer as support. Their baby girl also thanks you and is ready for her mother to come back home to her. All ladies out there who are pregnant, please make sure to keep your healthcare professionals aware of any underlying conditions you may have or that may run in your family. Also, if you are feeling bad, do not underestimate those feelings. There is always a lot of talk of postpartum emotional issues like depression that sometimes we forget the incredible physical toll bearing and giving birth to a child can bring.
