My name is Victoria. I am a single mother with a 16-year-old. A few months ago, our life got flipped upside down when we received a letter stating our landlord would not be renewing our lease. Around the same time, my roommate lost her job. We struggled for two months not knowing where we would sleep or if it was even possible for us to find a place in this housing market. Thankfully, we were blessed with a last-minute approval and were able to sign a lease on an apartment. Then, with no prior warning or any sense of a heads up, I also lost my job. With the current government shutdown, I am unable to apply for the help needed to tide us over until I can find another job. This was the last thing I ever wanted to do, knowing there are families out there that are so much worse off than I am and need so much more, but I am at a loss and terrified. I cannot afford to lose this apartment one month into the lease. My son needs to eat. Life is just rough. Anything to help is greatly appreciated, even if it is only a few dollars. Anything given will go solely towards our monthly bills and his monthly groceries.
