Victor is a new friend I met while fueling up my own Vespa. He shared his story with me about losing the keys to his beloved scooter after an industrial accident four years ago. The accident left him on permanent disability, and since then, he’s been living on a fixed income. With only a bicycle for transportation, Victor faces daily challenges getting to appointments, running errands, and staying connected with friends and his community.
The Vespa means a lot to Victor—not just as a way to get around, but as a source of joy and a way to make new friends. He’s always loved Vespas and dreams of joining rides and reconnecting with others who share his passion. After sitting unused for years, the scooter needs new keys and possibly some repairs to get it running again. Helping Victor restore his Vespa will give him more independence and open up new opportunities for friendship and adventure.
THE LATEST: When this fundraiser reached $510 Victor took his scooter into Vespa Motorsport. The scooter is rekeyed. It is still not running. Four years of sitting in a garage means a new battery and a servicing of the entire fuel system. This comes to $700. Now that the dealer only rekeying is done there may be cheaper options but for Victor and his fixed income they will still be out of reach.
If you have given to this fundraiser already, thank you. Please help Victor again by sharing the link to family and friends. Thanks again, we are halfway home.
