We never imagined something as common as a portable charger could change our lives in an instant.

Last weekend, my husband Victor was rushed to the hospital after a portable charger exploded in his pocket. The explosion caused severe burns to his left thigh and hands, requiring emergency medical treatment and ongoing care.

While we are incredibly grateful that his injuries were not even worse, Victor has a long road to recovery ahead of him. Because he is diabetic, healing can take longer and requires careful monitoring to prevent complications. At this time, we don't know how long he will be unable to work, but we do know that his recovery will take time, patience, and continued medical care.

We currently live in Arizona, but Victor's accident occurred in California. He remains hospitalized and, once released, will need to stay in California for ongoing treatment and follow-up care. Due to the severity of his injuries, returning home is not currently an option.

As we navigate this difficult situation, we are facing not only unexpected medical expenses and lost income, but also the costs of maintaining two households, travel between Arizona and California, lodging, meals, transportation to medical appointments, medications, wound care supplies, and other recovery-related expenses. Being apart during this time has been incredibly difficult, and traveling to be with Victor while he heals has created additional financial strain.

Because Victor's recovery is still unfolding, we do not yet know the full extent of the expenses we will face. The funds raised will help cover immediate needs including travel, lodging, meals, medical supplies, lost income, and ongoing treatment costs as we navigate the weeks and months ahead.

Anyone who knows Victor knows that he is hardworking, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Asking for help is not easy for us, but right now we could use the support of our community while he focuses on healing and recovery.
