Hi everyone — Victor here.
Last week I was in a car accident after a delivery. I’m physically okay, which I’m deeply grateful for, but my van was declared a total loss.
The timing has been tough. It happened right at the start of Art Week and just into my second quarter of grad school. The transition to LA hasn’t been the easiest, and this has added another layer of instability at a moment when I’m still finding my footing.
As many of you know, art handling and deliveries have been one of the main ways I support myself while completing my MFA at UCLA. My vehicle wasn’t just transportation — it was part of how I sustain my practice, move artwork, and take on jobs that help me stay afloat.
Insurance will cover the remaining loan, and I’ll receive a small amount back — but it’s not enough to replace the vehicle. Getting another van would be ideal. Realistically, right now I just need something reliable to stay mobile and keep working.
The funds raised will go toward purchasing a new vehicle and helping cover transportation costs in the meantime — whether that’s rentals, rideshares, or public transit — until I’m able to find something reliable.
Asking for help doesn’t come easily to me. I usually try to figure things out on my own and keep pushing forward. But this feels like one of those moments where leaning on community is necessary.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you. If not, sharing this page helps more than you know.
And thank you to Saint for helping me put this GoFundMe together — I appreciate you.
I truly appreciate you all.
— Victor
