WHAT'S HAPPENNING IN MYANMAR?

On Friday, a devastating and deadly 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Sagaing, Myanmar. It’s one of the strongest quakes the region has experienced in living memory—leaving behind widespread damage and heartbreaking loss. Some of the hardest-hit areas are also the most remote, receiving little to no aid.

The quake has resulted in a rising death toll of over 2000 deaths, 4000 injuries and hundreds still missing. Death toll is expected to be 10,000+. The hardest-hit regions include Sagaing Division and Mandalay Division, where entire communities have been left in ruins. Critical infrastructure, including bridges, highways, and airports, has sustained significant damage, making rescue and relief efforts extremely challenging.

These next few days are critical. Every hour matters in getting help to those who need it most.

Immediate Relief: We will provide essentials such as food, water, diesel for generators to pump water and temporary shelter to those displaced by the earthquake.

Today, April 1st, 2025 at 12:501 PM, there will be a minute of silence as a national mourning. Sirens will be heard locally. Please stop wherever you are. The 7-day period from March 31 to April 6 has been designated as The Day of National Mourning.

Already being poverty stricken, the people of Myanmar, thousands of children, men and women are in need of support with their emergency medical care, food and other basic needs.

The situation right now is alarming and people are in urgent need of help and resources. All your donation will go directly to help the civilian victims of the crackdown with their basic needs.

Your donation will be transferred to our Canadian account and sent directly to our key people on the ground in Yangon via bank transfer and delivered in cash.

Our contacts on the ground are using the funds to provide people with water, basic food and rice - each sack of rice will feed a family for two weeks.

We're registering the families and delivering the rice ourselves.
Some families are in a serious situation with nothing to eat, water to drink, or place to sleep.

If you donate 150 CAD (120 USD) we can buy 10 sacks of rice for 10 families, enough for 2 weeks

If you donate 15 CAD (12 USD), we will buy 1 sack of rice for 1 family, enough for 2 weeks

Your donation will save lives. Let’s help keep people alive.

Since the earthquake, Dave has been actively posting his Facebook page (www.facebook.com/kingleduc) about the situation, trying to raise awareness.

MESSAGE FROM DAVE:
"I have travelled the world and the people of Myanmar are the kindest people I have ever met, they are so polite, humble, generous and they are so worthy of all the support we can offer, so thank you for all your help.
16% of the families in Myanmar were living in "extreme poverty", that means on less than 1.90$ USD per day. Now, after years of covid, military coup, civil wars, cyclone, flooding and now the biggest earthquake in living memory that figure is up over 80%.
The situation is urgent and there are intensifying measures by the military and police forces in Myanmar, please help and donate, your money will directly go to the people!

This is the time for us to show our human compassion & love with some of the most in need. This is a good chance for you to make your contributions in case you've been wondering where and how to help with the people of Myanmar.
Please give what you can, anything helps... Thanks to everyone who made their contributions"
