Today on April 25th the Death Toll has risen to over 360 in Sri Lanka after the bombing massacre on Easter Sunday. More than 8 coordinated terrorist attacks were carried across the country on Easter Sunday. The places attacked included three churches and three luxury hotels.
The death toll and the numbers injured are still on the rise. People have lost their loved ones and some have lost many members or all the members of the family. Some do not have the means to give their deceased loved ones a proper burial, some do not have the means to take care of the injured in getting the proper medical help. Some cannot take care of the ones who survived the tragedy because they lost the breadwinner in the family and the list here is endless.
The hospitals are overcrowded and the emergency assistance programs cannot keep up with the need to help who are injured. Hospitals and these programs need manpower and supplies to sustain the death toll from rising, but it has been a losing battle.
Help is urgently needed as Hospitals need funds and victims and their families need financial assistance now. Any support or donations would be greatly appreciated.
1 US Dollar equals to about 174.00 Rupees. This means anything you can give will be a great help to these victims who need help.
The Indiana Buddhist Temple at 7528 Thompson Rd, Hoagland, IN 46745 (http://www.indianabuddhistvihara.org/index.html ) with the help of its devoted members are raising funds to help these victims.
ALL FUNDS WILL GO TO HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE ATTACK directly without any costly administrate fees as the temple will take the funds directly to the victims. Bhante Sugunadhamma from the temple is already in Sri-Lanka and will distribute the aids to the victims with the help of similar local organizations. He will document how the funds are being used and collect the necessary evidence to support the distribution of the funds.
The funds will be withdrawn in $1,000 to $5,000.00 increments when the funds are available until the fundraiser is closed. Venerable Thalangama Devananda or his designated party will personally withdraw the funds and deliver them to the victims in Sri-Lanka. Funds will be used to provide any assistance needed by these victims (bare necessities such as water, clothing, food, etc., medical supplies & medical expenses, and relocating expenses) until all the funds are depleted.
If you have any questions please contact the temple directly at 260 – 609 -2806 and talk to Venerable Thalangama Devananda or visit us at https://www.facebook.com/Indiana.Buddhist.Temple/
