Help Vickie Focus on Kicking Cancer’s Ass

While we all hoped 2021 would be better than 2020 (how could it get worse?)....those hopes were quickly dashed. Shortly after the new year, at 31 years old, my little sister Vickie was diagnosed with late stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  

Vickie is as fierce as they come (even at 5feet tall). She also grew up with 2 older brothers who treated her like all the boys (including daily wrestling her and I used to do after school to toughen her up). She’s going to beat this, even if by sheer stubbornness.

Fortunately, Vickie has health insurance and she is in very capable hands. Through 3 rounds of chemo, she remains in great spirits and is battling this like a warrior. Vickie is the person who is always, and without fail, there for everyone else. She gives even when she cannot afford to. She takes nothing. But she needs helps now. 

Vickie cannot work however, and will not be able to work any time in the near future. This is where YOU come in. Any help that can be offered to help Vickie cover day to day bills and keep her head above water so she can focus on cancer, not bills, would be a huge relief. Our family is doing what we can, but we cannot do it alone.

The funds would go towards day to day costs like rent, groceries, car payments, buying food (and of course treats, for her doggo Blue) .

Update (October 29, 2021): After completing chemotherapy a couple of months ago, Vickie's scan revealed that the cancer spread to her neck. The doctors determined they needed to put her on another more aggressive chemo treatment plan followed by a 5 week stay in the hospital for a stem cell transplant.  Fortunately, following the second chemo treatment plan, the cancer is in remission and Vickie is now at the tail end of her first week in the hospital. Her insurance is not covering all of her medical costs, making matters worse. Vickie can use all the help that anyone can offer at this time, and she sends her sincerest thanks, love and appreciation to all of those who have already helped thus far. We love you all.
