Help Vicente Romo Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Hello Romo Jewelry friends and family,
My name is Alina, and I am Vicente (Vince) Romo’s daughter. My sister Brigitte and I are asking for your help: our father was diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma this week, which is a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. He had brain surgery two weeks ago after taking ill at the store and has been in skilled nursing since being released from the hospital. He will be coming home on August 13. Romo Jewelry, which has been our family’s lifeblood for almost forty-five years, will be closing.

As I am sure you can imagine, our family is facing a very challenging time, emotionally and financially. My sister and I are trying to set up our father’s home so that he can be comfortable and safe. He will begin radiation and chemotherapy on the 20th of August and will need constant care. My sister Brigitte is going to reduce her time at Disney to be his primary caregiver. I have had to release work at the college so that I can come down to Cerritos from Santa Maria on the weekends to give my sister a break. We will still need to hire caregivers as according to the doctors, our dad will require 24 hour care. He is re-learning to walk and while he is doing so much better in that regard, we aren’t sure yet how much he will be able to walk or for how long. We are asking for your help.

I want to say thank you to all of his customers and friends who have already shared their love and compassion and support. Truly, seeing how valued and loved our dad has been to the Torrance and South Bay community has been inspirational and deeply felt. We are so thankful for all of your stories and kind words about Romo Jewelry and our father. I want to share what one of his customers wrote to me last week, which I have carried close to my heart over the last several days:

“I appreciate all of the work your father has done. I have so many pieces from him that I will wear forever. Just know there are so many people all over Torrance wearing pieces made by your dad. He is amazing. I hope he enjoys his retirement and that nothing but blessings and peace come to you and your family”

From our family to yours, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
