Hi, I’m Kelsey, and I’m managing this fundraiser on behalf of Victor Carrillo.

Many people in Miami’s nightlife and hospitality community know Victor, affectionately known as Vic. For years, he has been someone others could count on - showing up, helping behind the scenes, and supporting staff, clients, and anyone who needed it. He’s built a reputation for taking care of others without ever asking for anything in return.

Right now, Vic is facing a serious medical crisis.

He has been dealing with severe back issues for years and recently underwent his second major back surgery, involving multiple titanium rods and spinal fusion. Leading up to that surgery, doctors discovered a mass on his left kidney and initially diagnosed it as a cyst. That diagnosis was incorrect, and not realizing the severity of it led to a much more serious situation.

By late February, his condition worsened. New imaging revealed that the mass had rapidly grown from 3 cm to 7.5 cm. It was identified as aggressive stage III renal cancer. His medical team at Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida scheduled an urgent radical nephrectomy - the full removal of his left kidney.

On top of this, Vic developed a severe infection from his back surgery, which forced a delay in his cancer treatment. He has now been hospitalized for nearly two months, undergoing intensive IV antibiotic treatment to stabilize his condition before surgery can safely proceed.

His surgery is now scheduled for Thursday, April 9.

The financial burden has been overwhelming. Hospital bills have already surpassed $280,000. While insurance will cover 80% of these costs, Vic is still responsible for approximately $56,000 out of pocket—before additional expenses for surgery, recovery, medications, and follow-up care.

Vic has been covering as much as he can on his own, but the scale of these expenses is beyond what one person can reasonably manage.
