Help Vic and His Family Fight Leukemia
Donation protected
For those who know Victor "Vic", you are well aware of what kind of a kid he is. He has a relentless passion for baseball, and when he is not spending time with his little sisters and friends, you can catch him making Tik-Tok’s, baking brownies with his sisters, or at the baseball field. Vic has a huge personality. His laugh is infectious, and his humor is unmatched.
In mid-September, Vic started feeling sick. He went to his baseball game and struggled through. Afterwards, he had to take a break from playing the next game, which was very unlike him. Vic went home and came back the next day after a night of not feeling well. Vic’s condition worsened the next day and he experienced a high fever, a nosebleed that was difficult to stop, and he began spitting up blood.
At that point Vic's mom, Lindsay, knew this was more than a stomach bug. Vic was immediately taken to Reading Hospital where he was found to have low white and red blood cell counts. Vic was transferred to St. Christopher's Children's Hospital in Philadelphia that night, September 22nd. After extensive testing that included a biopsy of his bone marrow, Vic was diagnosed with B-ALL Leukemia. The next day, Vic allowed doctors to perform a spinal tap before treatment began so doctors could collect fluid to assist researchers studying the disease, knowing this could help other children in the future.
To this date, Vic remains in St. Christopher's for treatment. A port was placed in his chest, and he has begun an aggressive chemotherapy treatment. Vic's mother, Lindsay, has only left his side briefly to care for his sisters who are at home with family.
Vic and Lindsay need our help in this fight. She is unable to go to work while caring for Vic, who needs her with him during his chemotherapy and side effects. This fund will directly assist Vic and his family with food, bills, transportation, and home care as they navigate this incredibly tough period of time. Every little bit will help Vic and his family keep all of their focus on beating this disease and getting Vic back to enjoying his childhood.
