Help Veteran Teacher who Fought Layoff

Hi, everyone. We recently incurred some legal fees, and we are looking for any assistance you can provide. Here is a statement from my wife with more information.

Hello, everyone. My name is Mindy Lorton. I have been a Junior High and High School teacher for 22 years and have been working in Anaheim, California for the last 18 years. I teach English and ELD, and I absolutely love what I do.

This past March, I was one of 119 teachers facing a layoff. This action was to be decided over multiple days of legal hearings. I had to hire outside legal counsel to protect my job so I could continue teaching and mentoring my students.

My lawyer was amazing. He was instrumental in making the arguments that saved my job and, ultimately, led to all layoff notices being rescinded.

This was a fight worth winning, but the process was not without substantial personal cost. Any assistance you can provide to help defray my legal bills would be greatly appreciated.
