My name is Holly, and I’m the oldest of five kids. I’m posting today

because my 95-year-old mom, Veta, is facing possible eviction from her nursing home due to a $10,000 bill from the Covid era. The debt stems from a billing error that we were already repaying until the home changed accountants who now say that her balance needs to be cleared quickly or she may lose her place.

This isn’t a recurring thing — just a one-time issue we’re scrambling to fix. My siblings and I are all retired and dealing with our own health

struggles. We’re doing what we can, but the amount is far beyond our

reach alone.

Veta has lived a life of generosity, inclusion, and joy. Our home

growing up was a haven — always full of laughter, music, and people from all walks of life. She welcomed everyone with open arms and warmth. She was a gifted singer, a church soloist, and a member of the Bach Society. In her younger years, she brought stories to life in community theater, delighting children

with her wickedly funny stage presence.

She’s also a published poet, the author of *Songs in the Night* — a book that reflects her resilience and creative spirit. But now, age and

health challenges have made her more vulnerable than ever. Her mental and physical health are declining, and the stability and familiarity of her current home are critical for her well-being.
