Vesper is one of many colony cats we care for at @bkwaterfrontcats, located on the Red Hook/Carroll Gardens port. These resilient cats have endured so much, including being relocated twice after starting out at a Port Authority building. The caretakers and I are deeply committed to their well-being, but their current location is once again in jeopardy due to pending waterfront development. Our space is limited and overseen currently by the Department of Transportation, making it difficult to secure and care for all the cats.
Poor Vesper has been struggling for a while, and recently his mouth began bleeding, signaling an urgent need for dental surgery. It took time to trap him because of our restricted space, but now that we have him, we’re determined to get him the medical help he needs at Park Slope Vet Center. The funds raised will cover his dental procedure, recovery with pain medication, and hopefully help us find him a loving home so he won’t have to return to the colony—especially since all the cats will need to be relocated in the near future.
Your support would mean the world to us and to Vesper. Every donation will directly help him heal and give him a chance at a safer, happier life. Thank you for caring about Vesper and the colony cats who need us now more than ever.
