Help Veronica Taylor Overcome Health Challenges

Hi, my name is Donja Joiner & my mom is Veronica Taylor. She is 57 years young. I’m at a total loss on what else to do. My mother is suffering. She has kidney failure and factor five condition. She is currently on dialysis and has been for over 10 years. She got a kidney transplant in June 2010; by November 2013, the factor five condition attacked the new kidney, causing it to fail. She has been on dialysis since.

Within the past year, her health has taken a drastic hit. She caught peritonitis (an infection in the tubing site for her dialysis) and C-DIFF multiple times, each one triggering the other, neither one letting up. Her primary doctor would prescribe antibiotics; the peritonitis would clear up sometimes, however, the side effects from the C-DIFF would remain. She also has a nephrologist that oversees her kidney failure condition. He got upset with her because he did not have the answer as to why she couldn’t get rid of the side effects after months of being on antibiotics. On one of their recent phone calls, he berated her and told her the sickness was in her head because there was no cause. He then suggested she check into a hospital for her mental health. Mental health was not the issue; figuring out the cause and cure of the illness is. After that phone call, both doctors seem to be brushing her and her concerns off.

I’m highly concerned because she has lost a drastic amount of weight and as of late she’s been losing her train of thought more often. They won’t refer her to a gastro doctor nor will they run any extra tests, so we are honestly at a loss. Peritonitis and C-DIFF were persistent throughout the year and still currently are. She can’t hold in anything, whether she eats or not, nothing is helping. Due to both illnesses, she is losing her job and fallen behind on bills. She’s exhausted the options for centers/facilities that help with paying bills. We are beyond thankful for anyone that could contribute; anything helps seriously.
