Help Veronica Nabarrette Walk Again
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Veronica Nabarrette. I would like to introduce myself and give you my personal story. On Mother’s Day of 2023, I suffered a severe neurological and autoimmune attack that left me with the inability to walk and I have been wheelchair bound since that time. Prior to this, I was working a full-time job as an executive director at Tri Physical Therapy and was completely able bodied. On that Mother’s Day, my life completely changed as I woke up the following day with inability to walk. I was taken to the ER, and unfortunately, was released with no diagnosis and sent home. Living alone, I was placed in a difficult situation, as I was unable to care for myself. I relied on and my friends for my everyday needs including dressing, bathing, and preparing meals. In about 1 ½ months, my condition worsened, and I thought that I was not going to live much longer. After many prayers, we decided to go to Austin, Tx to seek further treatment. I was hospitalized in Austin for almost 3 weeks where many tests and labs were performed. I was then transferred to an inpatient rehab facility for about 1 month. During that time, I did gain a bit more independence with learning to use my wheelchair and other adaptative equipment to help me with my ADL’s. Over the past year and a half, I had to adjust a lot of my life due to being in my wheelchair. My health has been up and down with reoccurring relapses as my body does not always want to cooperate. I currently must have a full-time care giver who helps me with day-to-day tasks. I have had to take a step back from my full-time job which I miss dearly. I love being able to care for and help people, so this has been a very difficult time for me. One day, I do want to be able to care for myself and regain the ability to walk and be independent once again. I am now seeking help getting to the Mayo clinic for treatment and to find a clear diagnosis. Due to the extent of care that I am seeking, I will have to travel to Rochester Minnesota. I’ve had to do a lot of looking inside and it was hard to decide to do this, but God has humbled and touched my heart in a way that I am able to ask for help and donations. I do appreciate everyone’s donations but most of all I just ask to have your prayers over me during this time.
