On May 17th, our dear friends and neighbors, Veronica and Jared from Killingly, CT , lost their home to a devastating fire. In a matter of moments, everything they had worked so hard to build was gone. Their two children, two beloved dogs, and two horses are safe—but their home, and so many of their belongings, did not survive because of soot and water damage.
These are the people who show up on your hardest days without hesitation. The kind of neighbors who bring their strength, kindness, and grit into everything they do. Whether it’s helping a friend in need or working tirelessly to provide a good life for their kids and animals, Veronica and Jared embody selflessness and resilience.
In a heroic attempt to save their home, Jared fought the fire with a garden hose until first responders arrived. He is now in the hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation and faces a long road to recovery. Their family is facing not only the heartbreak of losing their home, but also the uncertainty of medical treatment, temporary housing, and an overwhelming rebuild ahead.
They won’t be able to live in their home for a long time while it needs to be demolished and rebuilt. During this period of loss and unknowns, they need our support more than ever.
Please consider donating—any amount helps—and sharing this campaign to help Veronica, Jared, and their family get back on their feet. Let’s show them the same strength and generosity they have always shown others.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
Update May 19: Jared is out of the hospital and recovering well!
