This is my beautiful best friend, Veronica. Veronica became an orphan her freshman year of high school. She lost her mom to a sudden heart attack when she was six and watched her dad slowly be taken by brain cancer by the time she was fourteen. No one told her his condition was as serious as it was, so she was utterly blindsided. She grew up in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois and her parents were both Polish immigrants. When her mom passed, her aunt moved in with her and her sister. This is the only family that she has left. Her aunt left her own family in Poland and has had to work as a housekeeper to keep a roof over her nieces' heads. Veronica worked insane hours at a restaurant through high school and even contributed to pay rent. She now goes to college with me and is paying her own way through everything. Loans and scholarships have been incredible, but they do not cover the expenses of needing her wisdom teeth removed or repairs when her car suddenly got vandalized, etc. These things that are considered necessities for any other 19 year-old are seen as luxuries and sources of panic for Veronica. She works as a TA and an RA as well as taking four honors courses just this semester. She is doing everything in her power and God has called me to reach out for help. He placed the insane number of $10,000 on my heart, but I am believing and praying for this radical provision. Veronica is the most humble, kind, funny, intelligent, empathetic, and loving person I know. I believe this money will bring stability that she has never known in her life and I am so grateful for anyone that contributes any amount. Thank you thank you thank you.
