Help Vern and Marge

Donation protected
As most of you know, our dear friends Vern and Marge Biehl suffered the loss of their home and beautiful property this weekend in the Lake Fire.

Vern and Marge gave Transition Habitat Conservancy its first Conservation Easement of 35 acres when THC was just starting to roll.  They have been tireless supporters and caretakers of the land and surrounding area. Vern has installed and maintained countless miles of fences and trails and Marge has patrolled the land on foot and horseback, always keeping one eye out for poachers and another for native plants to be used in traditional medicine and food. They’ve worked with LA County to direct conservation measures in the Antelope Valley, and are a big part of why the Portal Ridge Wildlife Area is as awesome as it is.

We ask that you consider supporting them at this time. Their water lines have melted and need to be replaced, and they need money to feed horses that are no longer on pasture and need hay. In addition, the site will have to be bulldozed and hazardous materials removed, and fences rebuilt, not to mention personal comfort items like clothing, toiletries, and so on. All of these things are needed before they can even consider rebuilding, and these are the little things that are quite overwhelming. If you can lend support of any kind, they will benefit 100%. To kick things off, an anonymous donor has pledged a 100% match up to the first $5000.

Please consider giving to Vern and Marge at this time. Let’s flood them with love and support!
