Help My Mom Verity Penland Beat Breast Cancer

As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer early this year. It has been a roller coaster for our family. But my mom, WOW, I can’t even explain this woman!
My mom has been through 16 rounds of chemo! Multiple procedures! Worked 40+ hours a week! Drove 6-7 hours round trip weekly for treatment! Will cook me and my family an amazing homemade dinner for us to come home to, all so “I wouldn’t have to because I had a long day at work”! She didn’t complain one time, about anything on this road.
But the most amazing part? My SUPER WOMAN OF A MOM went through 16 chemo treatments and never got sick one time! Never let it hold her back from being a mom not only to my younger sisters who still need her, but to me! Her grown adult child. Because she would say “You’re still my baby!”
How can any one person go through 16 chemo treatments over about 5 months and walk around as if she is fine and healthy?
As we await her post chemo scan results, We have a surgery scheduled for a full double mastectomy. This is where it is going to get hard financially. With my mom and youngest sister temporarily moving close to me and all of her appointments, So I am able to help her heal and get to all of her appointments. While my other sister stays up north with family so she isn’t moved during the school year. My mom will be going on short term medical disability for her to heal fully. I will be taking time off from work to help during that time. As well as to help her with my youngest sister. But I will have to go back to work right away after the week of her surgery.
My mom is the most amazing person, and I want to ensure she will be able to keep all the bills paid, her and my sisters have all items they need, and keep all the stress off of my mom during this time. My mom and I hate asking for help, but any and everything will keep our family above water during this time.
My mom and I have never had a better relationship than we do right now. We joke that it’s the bright side of this shitty path. LOL. I’m forever thankful to spend each moment with her. And I will do any and everything I need to in order to make this journey as easy as possible for her!
We thank every single person more than we could ever tell you!
I love you mommy!
KEEP FIGHTING THIS FIGHT!
I will be right by your side!
(Original Story)
Hello, My name is Corinn Penland. Many may know me from your local Hardware Store. My mother Verity Penland, Which you may remember from when she managed The Candy Cellar many years ago, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 invasive inflammatory ductal carcinoma Breast Cancer. At only 45 and with no family history of cancer, this came as a massive shock to all of us. We are starting aggressive chemo treatments with in the next 2-3 weeks. I am trying to raise money to help with all the upcoming expenses we are going to have to handle. From the cost of medical treatments, medication and travel to and from each appointment. As well as housing costs for her and my sister during chemo treatments. We are also planning that we may have to go out of state when it's time for surgery. Also with childcare for my younger two sisters during this. I, Corinn am planning on taking a family medical leave when the treatments get going in full swing to help give her as much care and support as she needs as well as my two younger sisters during this time. But in the meantime, I will also be taking many days off to be by her side at every appointment and treatment. Though I know our goal is high, we are unsure how much the total cost is going to be through all of this. But any donations will be extremely helpful and appreciated to help pay for the unknown expenses. I want to make sure we can get my mom anything she may or will need to make this process as least stressful as possible for her. As well as keeping my sister's childhoods as happy and intact as possible so they can still have a semi-normal childhood throughout this process. They are only 15 and 8 years old.
Thank you for reading this and for any support you give my mom during this!
