On Sunday, October 22nd 2023, the home of Vereta Herndon burned down due to a grease fire. Mostly everyone who occupied the house got out safely, but Vereta was rushed to an emergency department and then was sent to the burn center in richmond due to suffering burns on 8% of her body including her face and arms. She went into surgery that upcoming wednesday. She's been a pillar of the community working for the Spotsylvania county school system for over 20 years.
