Update

Vera has now returned home after a 2 week stay @ CVAH. She has had her eye removed and parts of her skin on the face as well. At this current moment she still has an open wound and is still going to the vet 2 times with in the week for monitoring and wound care. She is doing a lot better but still will need some reconstructive surgeries in the coming weeks. Thank you for everyone who has shared and donated it is so appreciated.

**Important Update**

After Vera’s visit to the vet on Sunday, they discovered the whole half of her faces skin has died from infection and had to be removed. As of Monday June 23rd she in now in surgery to also get her eye removed and will be kept in the hospital for the next two weeks to monitor if skin will regrow to be stitched again. This is a very hard time but Vera has still been her happy self, so the vet and I have high hopes.**

Hello, My name is Kelly-Anne.

On Monday June 16th my sweet Vera was brutally attacked by a dog causing severe head injuries resulting in shattered teeth, wounded eye, and shattered bones in one side of her face. She was rushed to Nanaimo emergency clinic where she was assessed. Wednesday June 18th she had surgery to removed fragments of bone, and the shattered teeth. Sunday June 22nd she had to be rushed back to the vet due to severe infection, open stitches, and the skin has been dying near stitches. This has been an extremely difficult and mentally/financially challenging time for me. I am over 4K deep in vet bills and many more to come as she may have to keep her wounds open to grow new skin tissues which will result in more vet appointments and bills. There is a high possibility that her eye will have to be removed as well. I am asking the community to help me bring my sweet, caring, loving cat back to the loving and happy Bean she was once before. Vera is 2 years old, and has been my mental support animal through some very tough times, and I am beyond scared, hurt, and stressed out on what this outcome may bring as I can not afford to keep up with the cost of living and the bills this trauma has brought along with it.
