Our dear Spanish teacher and friend, Ventura García lost his father Serafín García. His father came to this country 35 years ago to work on the fields of Watsonville. Over there, while working long hours under the sun picking up fruits and vegetables, he was able to raise his family. He taught them the value of  family, the value of education, hard work and perseverance.  With his farming job, señor Serafín was able to provide all his children with a college education. Three of his sons are teachers. This past August, he got very sick and never recovered. His wish was to be buried in Mexico, his homeland. We are raising money for the expenses of this endeavor. Every bit is needed and appreciated. Let's send his remains to finally rest in peace in his home, Mexico!
Nuestro querido maestro de español y amigo, Ventura García perdió a su padre Serafín García. Su padre vino a este país hace 35 años para trabajar en los campos de Watsonville. Allí, mientras trabajaba largas horas bajo el sol recogiendo frutas y verduras, pudo criar a su familia. Les enseñó el valor de la familia, el valor de la educación, el trabajo duro y la perseverancia. Con su trabajo agrícola, el señor Serafín pudo proporcionar a todos sus hijos una educación universitaria. Tres de sus hijos son maestros. En agosto pasado, Don Serafín enfermo y nunca se recuperó. Su deseo era ser enterrado en México, su tierra natal. Estamos recaudando dinero para los gastos de este esfuerzo. Cada centavo es necesario y apreciado. ¡Enviemos sus restos para que finalmente descansen en paz en su casa, México!
