Hi, my name is Maryanne, and I am a British Venezuelan living in England.

Like so many Venezuelans around the world, I have been heartbroken by the devastating earthquake that has affected my home country. Families have lost everything, and many children have been left with serious injuries that require urgent medical care.

My aunt and uncle are orthopedics in Venezuela who are working directly to help those injured. They are urgently making fracture splints, casts, slings, and other immobilisation devices by hand because medical supplies are extremely limited.

Many of the victims are children with broken bones and other injuries who need immediate treatment to prevent long-term complications. Without the right materials, it becomes much harder to provide the care they desperately need.

We are raising funds to purchase essential materials, including:

3 mm PVC plastic sheets

Polypropylene sheets

Medical adhesive tape

Medical-grade glue

Foam padding

Other materials needed to make casts, splints, and slings

Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards purchasing these materials so they can be made into life-changing medical equipment for those injured in the earthquake.

As someone living far from home, this is my way of helping my community and supporting my family as they care for those most in need.

Hola, mi nombre es Mariana y soy venezolana, actualmente viviendo en Inglaterra.

Como muchos venezolanos alrededor del mundo, estoy profundamente consternada por el devastador terremoto que ha afectado a nuestro país. Muchas familias lo han perdido todo y numerosos niños han quedado con lesiones graves que requieren atención médica urgente.

Mis tíos son fisioterapeutas en Venezuela y están trabajando directamente para ayudar a las personas afectadas. Debido a la escasez de suministros médicos, están fabricando de forma artesanal férulas, yesos, cabestrillos y otros inmovilizadores para fracturas, con el fin de atender a quienes más lo necesitan.

Muchos de los afectados son niños con fracturas y otras lesiones que requieren tratamiento inmediato para evitar complicaciones a largo plazo. Sin los materiales adecuados, resulta mucho más difícil brindarles la atención que necesitan con urgencia.

Estamos recaudando fondos para comprar materiales esenciales, entre ellos:

* Láminas de PVC de 3 mm

* Láminas de polipropileno

* Cinta adhesiva médica

* Pegamento de uso médico

* Espuma acolchada

* Otros materiales necesarios para fabricar yesos, férulas y cabestrillos

Cada donación, sin importar su cantidad, se destinará a la compra de estos materiales para que puedan convertirse en equipos médicos que ayuden a aliviar el sufrimiento de las personas heridas por el terremoto.

Aunque estoy lejos de mi país, esta es mi manera de ayudar a mi comunidad y apoyar a mi familia mientras atienden a quienes más lo necesitan.
