Hi, I’m Veevee — a 41-year-old trans woman on a journey to finally live in a body that reflects who I truly am.

For many, many years, I’ve carried the weight of dysphoria while trying to navigate a world that is pretty hostile to people like me. I have always known I was trans, wishing that the Blue Fairy would turn me into a girl like she made Pinocchio a real boy, but when I told my grandma this when I was 4, she made me promise never to tell anyone else. Unfortunately, I listened to her and buried that secret deep.

I’ve fought hard to love myself, and now I’m ready to take the next step toward aligning my body with my identity through gender-affirming surgery. Surgery is a lifeline for me. It’s about safety, comfort, and the ability to move through the world with significantly less fear. And at a time when we’re seeing an increase in targeted attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights and gender-affirming care, it feels imperative to get care while I can.

I have received the referral and have all my papers ready, with a surgery consultation set for July 16 2025, and the surgery itself should be scheduled about 9 months after the consultation. I have insurance thanks to Covered California, but there is a high deductible and coverage for gender-affirming care is limited, so many costs will be out-of-pocket. I’ve been saving up and doing everything I can, but the financial burden is more than I can handle alone, especially because I’ll be out of work during my recovery.

Funds will be used to cover costs of my gender-affirming surgery, including electrolysis, bottom, and facial feminization. Over time I hope to raise enough to cover my insurance's maximum out-of-pocket, and the time I will be out of work recovering. I feel that if I can raise at least $10,000 I can make my dream a reality.
