My name is Veena Ryali, a 45-year-old homemaker from Waco, Texas, blessed with a loving husband, Srikanth Ponnada, a pharmacist at Walgreens, and our 12-year-old daughter, Akshara.
While visiting family in Rajahmundry, India, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare and debilitating autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barré Syndrome on September 9, 2025. This condition severely impacted my nervous system, leaving me nearly paralyzed from the neck down on my right side.
I was immediately admitted to the ICU at Delta Hospitals, where I underwent an intensive treatment involving 20 immunoglobulin injections, each costing around $350. Alongside this, I required round-the-clock care from physiotherapists and personal aides to help with basic daily activities, as I couldn’t walk or move independently.
After two weeks of treatment, I showed promising recovery and was discharged. However, just two weeks later, I suffered a second attack, requiring another costly round of antibody therapy. We had hoped the first recovery would be the end of this ordeal, and my husband planned to return to work. But the second relapse changed everything.
Srikanth has now taken FMLA leave for 3 months to care for me full-time, and we’ve already spent over $30,000 on medical bills, therapy, and caregiving. With him away from work and my recovery expected to take 3 to 6 months, we are facing a significant financial strain.
We are humbly asking for your support during this difficult time. Your donation will help us cover ongoing treatment costs, caregiving, and living expenses while I fight to regain my strength and independence.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us hope and relief. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and generosity.
With gratitude,
