Help Veda get an MRI

Anyone who knows me, knows Veda. Anyone who knows Veda, immediately falls in love with her. I adopted Veda when she was 6 months old and the last 7.5 years have been a roller coaster to say the least. She’s moved across country and back with me, she was diagnosed with epilepsy and bacterial dysbiosis, she’s been there for all of my major life events, and she has still managed to be an absolute angel through it all. She’s a lover girl, a happy girl, and more than anything I want to do right by her.
Veda was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease about 6 weeks ago and not long after, developed a skin infection called calcinosis cutis. We had our first appointment with an internist this week and things didn’t go as I had hoped unfortunately. The internist is concerned with how severe the calcinosis is and how quickly it came on, and said anecdotally dogs with these severe symptoms can have a macro tumor on their pituitary gland. The internist is now recommending an MRI +/- radiation for the best outcome possible. The concern is that if she does have a macro tumor, we could treat her Cushing’s medically and still not see any improvements with her skin, her skin could continue to get worse, and at some point she could become neurologic. Our first appointment with the neurologist at CSU is a consult on January 10th. For now, she is on vetoryl, ursodial, cephalexin, gabapentin, and fortiflora in an attempt to treat her Cushing’s. Based off her abdominal ultrasounds, she also has a small amount of sludge in her gallbladder that I will continue to monitor every 8-12 weeks to ensure it doesn’t become a gallbladder mucocele.
Anyone who truly knows me knows that Veda is my heart and soul, and that I am willing to do anything in my power to give her the best life possible. Unfortunately as a vet tech, I don’t make enough money that $4k-$5k is available to me. And anyone who knows me, knows that I hate asking for help or for handouts. But for Veda, I’d do anything. So if you know us, if you could donate to her medical bills, I would be forever grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read Veda’s story.
