Help Veasna (Mr Skippy) fund his heart operation

Hello everybody,

We have started this GoFundMe page on behalf of our dear friend Veasna, he is from Siem Reap Cambodia - he is 38 years old, has three beautiful children, all under the age of 10 and lives in a small village just outside the city with his wife and his mother in law.

We met him through his Tuk Tuk driving business many years ago, which has turned into a beautiful friendship with each visit. All of his customers call him Mr Skippy.

The reason for this funding is that he just learnt he needs open heart surgery – which will cost between $8000 and $10,000. As hard as he works there is no way he can raise that sort of money as the sole worker in his family. He is determined to keep his kids in school, wanting them to have the best education possible for the easiest start in life in an otherwise poor part of the world. Veasna is a kind soul who has the most inspiring outlook on life; the lack of tourism from the Covid years in Siem Reap has made the working life very difficult for most of the locals, but Veasna has always managed to find himself the odd job here and there to keep delicious food on the table and a roof over their heads. He works day and night as a Tuk Tuk driver and if he can, he will work as a tradesman/ handyman for new up and coming businesses in the area. We have driven around with him many times and he has pointed out different buildings he helped with in one way or another.

He is a good friend and not the kind of person to ask for charity, as he would rather earn his income honestly. He is known as a very capable man and has always managed to provide for his family. But this is well beyond his means...

Any amount, big or small, will help Veasna get closer to being able to get the operation that he needs. And it would mean the world to him and his family.

If we can we are hoping to be able to raise a bit more than he needs so that there aren’t any stresses during his recovery.

One thing is for sure, on your next visit to Siem Reap you will have the best guide and Tuk Tuk driver and a true friend. As we have had over the years.
