Today, more than 90 car windshields were smashed in VCU’s A Lot at Main Street Station in Richmond, Virginia. The people affected are VCU students, university employees, and VCU Health employees who returned from class or work to find their vehicles vandalized. What should have been a normal day quickly turned into a stressful and expensive situation for so many members of the VCU and Richmond community. For many of those impacted, insurance will not cover the damage, or the deductible is equal to or even greater than the cost of replacing the windshield. With replacement costs at around $500 per vehicle, the potential need across more than 90 affected vehicles is approximately $45,000.

This fundraiser is for the verified victims of this incident who are left responsible for those costs on their own. Donations will go directly toward replacing windshields and helping get these cars safely back on the road so the people affected can return to work, school, appointments, and daily life. Kelly is asking the community to come together for neighbors who were hit by this senseless act and now face unexpected expenses through no fault of their own.
