Vasyl came to the United States in 2024, fleeing the war in Ukraine under the United for Ukraine program. He arrived with hope for a safer future and worked tirelessly as a truck driver, doing everything right—paying taxes, following the law, and supporting his elderly parents and friends still living through the hardships of war. When his mother suffered a stroke, Vasyl took on even more responsibility, working hard to cover her medical expenses and rehabilitation so she could join him in the US.

Despite having valid documents, including a driver’s license and work authorization, Vasyl was recently and unlawfully detained by ICE in Oklahoma. He has no criminal record—his only “fault” has been his dedication to his family and community. Now, he faces an uncertain future, unable to work or care for his loved ones while he is detained.

We are raising funds to cover legal fees for a habeas corpus petition, immigration attorney support, medical access and health care needs, and emergency support for his mother’s recovery.
