Help Vasthy Get Back on Her (Hott) Feet

Donation protected
Friends, especially those of you in the arts and theatre communities, I'm reaching out to ask for your help. Vasthy Mompoint, one of my closest friends and one of the best people I know, has had an incredibly tough year. After suffering a miscarriage, she discovered that the cause was uterine fibroids. Some people live with these for years and never have any symptoms, but that was not the case here. Vasthy's were so bad and there were so many that they were actually feeding off of the rest of her body, robbing her of nutrients and causing her extreme pain.
She had a very invasive surgery to remove them about four weeks ago and the recovery has been slow and frustrating. If you know Vasthy, you know that she's incapable of sitting still. She's incredibly active and energetic and she makes her living moving her body - dancing in Broadway shows. She's currently a cast member of The Prom, a wondeful new show that opened this Fall. She has had to take a long leave of absence from the show and the Disability she's receiving while she can't work is only $174 a week... which everyone knows is impossible to live on in New York City. She and her new husband, Mason, are both artists, and depend on both of their incomes to make ends meet. She is also the co-founder of a wonderful business called Broadway Babysitters, whose goals are to provide jobs to artists during periods they're not working as well as to provide affordable child care to those in the arts. Vasthy cares so much about her friends, her community, and contributing something of value to the world. She has created jobs and opportunities for her fellow artists. She cares tirelessly for the children who are lucky enough to have her as a babysitter - especially kids with special needs. She's a loyal friend, a dedicated advocate and activist, and the most committed perpetrator of "bits" I have ever known. She lives to make her friends laugh.

Despite all of her wonderful skills, Vasthy is terrible at one very important thing...asking for help. She's independent to a fault and never wants to be a burden. This is the reason I want to do this for her. We were on the phone the other day and she wondered out loud if they'd need to leave New York, which really scared me. Vasthy needs to be in New York, doing what she loves, surrounded by the family she has created for herself.

The money you donate here will go towards Vasthy's rent and bills while she's recovering, as well as to transportation around the city to and from her appointments, as walking distances and taking subway stairs are still too taxing.

If Vasthy has ever made you laugh, forced you to have a good time against your will, danced at your wedding, called you and pretended to have "her assistant" get her for you, championed your cause, come to your show, sung in your cabaret, produced your webseries, taken you to the beach, guested on your podcast, taken care of your children, or jokingly made you tell her how pretty she is, please consider making a contribution. She will appreciate it so much, and so will I.
