Hi there.
I have started this fundraiser with the primary aim of supporting a fellow university student in completing school.
Vasillii and his mother Anastasiia are from Russia and have come to the US seeking political asylum. However, their refugee status is temporary, and until finalized, he is ineligible to receive federal aid for college.
Vasillii already completed his Associates Degree in Daytona, and he and his mother relocated to Jacksonville with the understanding that he would receive a Pell Grant to complete a 4-year degree. At the last minute, he was informed that his status prevented him from receiving this grant or any other federal aid until his status is finalized.
This leaves Vasillii and Anastasiia more or less stranded, as this was the sole reason for their relocation. While the two are supporting themselves through stock trading, due to high proficiencies in mathematics, their lack of English proficiency prevents them from achieving the financial stability necessary to put Vasillii through school.
Anastasiia is a bookkeeper and is teaching herself finance-related English terminology to continue this work in the US, with the goal of starting her own business. Further, she expects their refugee status will be finalized by the end of 2026. In the meantime, they must pay for Vasillii's upcoming academic term.
To cover the cost of tuition, books, and other associated fees for the Fall Term, Vasillii and his mother would much appreciate our support. This cost amounts to $3,000.
They are working to build better lives for themselves here in the US, an endeavor many of us deeply empathize with. We thank you for any degree of support, no donation is too small.
Additionally, please do not hesitate to spread this message, we whole-heartedly appreciate any form of help.
