Hello! My name is Vashti, and I’m reaching out during a pivotal moment in my life. After a challenging year marked by unemployment, 3 car accidents and financial instability, I recently accepted my dream job in higher education in Denton, TX. This opportunity means everything to me, but the transition has been difficult. I’m still under lease in Rowlett, which means a one way three -hour commute each way using public transportation. Without a car, for the past year I’ve relied on buses, trains, rideshares, and the kindness of friends and family to get to work. Which was simpler when my job was in South Dallas. 
Last September, I was in a car accident that totaled my vehicle, and since then, getting around has been physically and emotionally taxing. I’m proud of how I’ve learned to navigate the city, but the daily commute is becoming harder, especially as the weather changes.

Even though it would be ideal for me to move and get a new car I have to be honest with myself and what I can afford
and prioritize one over the other. Since my current lease is not up until June 2026 my priority is in getting a new car. I’m doing everything I can to rebuild and move forward, and every bit of support brings me closer to stability and the chance to continue pursuing the work and purpose I feel called to.
