Support for Family, Vartan's Leukemia Treatment & Transplant

Hello Everyone,

My name is Eric Golubitsky, and I have had the honor of knowing my dear friend Vartan Alexander, Nastya and their amazing boys for the past 10 years. Vartan is more than a friend to me- he's like a brother, incredibly wonderful person, wonderful friend, always positive with a smile & unique laugh, a devoted father, and one of the most selfless people I know. Over the past year, his life has been turned upside down by a devastating diagnosis—Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML)—which he received late last year, in December 2023.

Vartan has always put his family first. He’s a loving husband to his incredible wife, who’s a nurse at Cleveland Clinic, and a devoted father to their two boys, Stephen (3) and Sebastian (13). In 2021 (during Covid years), Vartan paused his career to become the primary caregiver for their youngest son while supporting his wife through nursing school. He poured his heart and soul into his family, always willing to sacrifice for their future.

Now, as Vartan bravely fights for his own future, he faces the biggest challenge of his life. After undergoing months of grueling chemotherapy, undergone an extremely high-risk bone marrow transplant, a procedure that will hopefully give him a second chance at life. But the road ahead is long and uncertain—if all goes well, his recovery will take at least a year. During this time, Vartan won’t be able to work, and the financial burden on his family has become overwhelming.

The emotional toll is compounded by the financial strain of mounting medical bills and credit card debt. The reality is that they are facing a situation no family should ever have to bear alone.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of medical treatments, living expenses, and support Vartan’s family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a profound difference in easing their financial stress and allowing them to focus on Vartan’s recovery.

I know how much Vartan’s family means to him, and I’ve seen firsthand the strength and resilience he’s shown during this battle. But no one can do it alone.
