Help Vân's Family Rebuild After Typhoon Yagi

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Candice Wright. I am living in Hanoi, Vietnam with my family. We moved here a year and a half ago to help the people of Vietnam. As my husband and I started our journey through learning the Vietnamese language, we met Vân. She was our first language teacher, and we learned so much from her. We are so grateful for all she taught us.

This last weekend, Typhoon Yagi fiercely hit Northern Vietnam. Devastation has been left in its wake. Every day, more and more stories flood my newsfeed with more destruction and heartbreak that the typhoon has caused. Many communities are suffering from the loss of houses or property. Flooding and landslides are now wreaking havoc on these northern communities. Many coastal communities are trying to put back the pieces of what is left of their homes.

It is in one of these coastal communities where our language teacher is from. Her mother’s home’s roof blew completely off in the storm. A roof that was made of metal blew off like it was only made of paper. It now lays in their yard, useless to protect them from the elements. Vân’s mother is now sleeping in their kitchen. To replace the metal roof would cost them many months of work. To replace the roof with concrete would be better, but Vân could work 5 years and still not be able to pay for an upgrade.

There is so much need here in this country after the storm. We want to be able to bless someone we have a connection with and build a deeper relationship with them. Will you help us reach the goal to bless this family with a new roof?
