Update April 15 2025
hi everyone sorry for the late update but I have been in a nursing and rehabilitation center for the injuries I received in October escaping the fire. I have a Fractured shoulder on my left side and due to the extent of my injuries I’m still gonna be here for therapy on my left shoulder and my back. I’m now experiencing numbness in both legs and cannot walk far due to legs going numb have to use a wheelchair to get around. I hate to bring this up but due to how long I’ve been here cause of my injuries I now need help paying the bills i have. Please any donations are greatly appreciated. And please share this to help me even if you cannot donate. I keep fighting and doing my therapy but I’m not seeing a lot of progress but some is better then none. I was told I may need surgery on the shoulder I’ll find out soon. Please any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I’m Vanessa. On Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, around 3:00 A.M., I was awoken to screams of fire. I could not escape through the front door, so I ran to the balcony, which is where the fire escape ladder is. I was climbing down the ladder with a fellow neighbor helping me when I slipped and fell over 10 feet, hitting the ground on my left side hard. I was unable to move, and the pain was blinding. A firefighter came over to assess the scene and realized I needed a backboard, so they radioed the EMTs for what was needed. They got me loaded on the backboard, then onto the gurney, and I was loaded into the ambulance. On my way to the trauma hospital, I flatlined in the ambulance. Once I reached the level 1 trauma hospital, they worked on me and did tests. They found out I have a fractured shoulder on the left side, a messed-up rotator cuff on the left side, and a broken arm on the left side. They also found I broke a vertebra in my back, and I have major muscle pains in my back and chest. While at the hospital, I found out that I lost everything. All I had were the clothes on my back, which were cut off at the hospital, and the shoes on my feet.

I’m asking for a little help getting back on my feet. Please, I do not even have a coat for the cold, and I live in upstate New York, so please can you help a mom who has had it all taken in the blink of an eye. Thank you for taking the time to read what happened to me and why I’m reaching out for assistance.
