As many of you know, our beloved Vanessa has recently been diagnosed with advanced cancer. If you know her, you know she’s strong, hardworking, and fiercely independent. She loved her job and took great pride in her work, not just as a way to provide for her family, but as part of who she is. Her oncology team has advised that, because her treatments will be aggressive, it will be best for her health to step away from work and begin the transition to permanent disability.

Vanessa is also a devoted mom to three beautiful daughters, one currently in college at CSU Monterey Bay, one in junior high, and one in elementary school. This journey isn’t just about her fight; it’s also about navigating the day-to-day realities of raising her girls and being present for them through every challenge and milestone.

So many friends and family have reached out, asking how they can help, whether through a meal, a kind gesture, or financial support. We felt creating this page would be the best way to give those who wish to help a place to do so. This support will help bridge the gap as Vanessa transitions financially to disability and cover the many unexpected needs that can come up while raising her daughters during this time.

Apoyando a Vanessa en Su Lucha

Como muchos de ustedes saben, nuestra querida Vanessa ha sido diagnosticada recientemente con cáncer en etapa avanzada. Quienes la conocen saben que es fuerte, trabajadora y profundamente independiente. Amaba su trabajo y sentía un gran orgullo por lo que hacía no solo como una manera de proveer para su familia, sino como parte de quién es ella. Su equipo de oncología le ha aconsejado que, debido a que sus tratamientos serán agresivos, lo mejor para su salud es dejar de trabajar y comenzar la transición a una discapacidad permanente.

Vanessa también es una madre dedicada de tres hermosas hijas una actualmente en la universidad en CSU Monterey Bay, otra en la escuela secundaria, y la más pequeña en la escuela primaria. Esta etapa no se trata solo de su lucha; también implica enfrentar las realidades diarias de criar a sus hijas y estar presente para ellas en cada reto y cada logro.

Han sido muchos los familiares y amigos que han preguntado cómo pueden ayudar ya sea con una comida, un gesto de cariño o apoyo económico.
