Vanessa, my spouse, is a young and beautiful trans woman from Honduras who is currently in ICE custody and facing possible deportation. She has already been granted asylum in the United States, but our government doesn’t care and is still trying to deport her. If Vanessa is forced to return, she will be in grave danger—not only from her family, but also from a country that is one of the most dangerous places in the world for transgender women. Honduras has the 9th highest murder rate for transgender women, and the government provides no protection for LGBTQ people. Vanessa has no support system or safe place to live there, and her life is truly at risk.
All funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward fighting Vanessa’s deportation. This includes legal representation, filing fees, and all associated costs, as well as commissary and GTL communication accounts so she can stay connected and cared for during this difficult time. If there are any leftover funds, they will be donated to other families facing similar situations.
Any and all help would be appreciated more than you will ever know. This situation is a matter of life and death for Vanessa. Thank you so much for your support, compassion, and willingness to stand with us in this fight.
