Help Vance and Hailey Find Stability

I'm Vance T. Barker and this is my service dog Hailey. I suffered a seriously debilitating illness on New Year's 2023 and lost my job. We were stopped for the night at a truck stop in Baltimore. I was a truck driver at the time. I had a combination of COVID, Necrotic Pneumonia, and the flu. I was in a comatose state for over a month. I am now largely confined to a wheelchair and trying to walk again. I was hospitalized for a year and a half. My loyal service dog Hailey saved my life when I first got sick by going I'm the driver's seat and rolled down the window then making the paramedics aware of our location by rolling down the window then sticking her head out the window while barking and yelping. When we got in the ambulance, they used the defibrillator on me twice. Once we were at the hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview, Hailey stayed by my side. She made sure someone was always tending to me.

I am now out of the hospital.

I'm raising funds to help cover my expenses, in particular, food and lodging. I have applied for disability, and currently, the agencies and organizations that help with housing in my current location are not taking applications for housing assistance.

I'm currently staying in a hotel room in Houma, LA. The room rates are $80 per night, and they have a weekly rate of $380 per week.
