My name is Mike Karl and I’m raising funds on behalf of my friends Valleri and Danny, who are going through an incredibly hard time.

In December 2025, the furnace in the home they rent completely failed and is in need of replacement. Their landlord has refused to pay for a replacement, and didn't even offer space heaters or any backup source of heat, leaving them and their fur babies without proper heat for over 2 months. They tried every option — financing, working with the landlord, and legal remedies — and ultimately had to place their rent into Rent & Escrow Court. A good friend of mine and I have provided them with space heaters, and heated blankets, which the landlord wouldn't even do. Unfortunately this still only does the bare minimum, and has forced them to live in one small room of the house, and has sent their electric bill through the roof!

The home also has other serious safety issues, including mold, peeling lead paint, and a dangerous Federal Pacific electrical panel (a known fire hazard), which is powering all of the space heaters. After broken promises and no resolution, they’re now facing legal costs and are pursuing further legal action against the landlord. They also need to find a safe new place to live. This GoFundMe is a last resort to help cover: the furnace repair, legal fees, and a down payment for new housing & moving costs.
